Oh man, these invites I designed for Katie and Jim who got hitched back in June were sooooo cute and fun to make! Here's the story...

Flashback: Sasha and Ryan

I have another "flashback" wedding invitation suite to share today, this one comin' way back from 11/11/11!

Sasha and Ryan had a "two hearts, one love" concept they wanted to incorporate in their celebration. So I decided to design a sleek and simple invitation suite for the two. My favorite part was the little two hearts combination with their new monogram, "S". Something about those two little hearts make me smile. The tri-fold design was complete with the "11-11-11" paper band that held the invitation together, forever locking that special date into each guests' mind.

I loved how simple, yet visually striking these suckers turned out to be, and the blue and black color palette was a nice choice for the wintery November Wisconsin wedding that it was!

I have one more "flashback" wedding I'll post this week, and don't forget, Indie Wed in Chicago is THIS SATURDAY! Boy, that sure came up quick. We'll be on the first floor again, eager to talk with all you cool brides and grooms.

Flashback: Dorota and Adam

So, in preparation for Indie Wed in Chicago (coming up on Feb. 2nd!), I've been going through my archives of wedding invitations, and stumbled upon a few designs that I've never shared on the blog. Including this invitation from waaaaaaay back in 2010, which coincidentally is one of my favorites! It's no surprise I totally forgot to post about this suite, considering I gave birth shortly after I finished designing it. It's not like I had anything else better to do. 

This wedding invitation suite was terrific to design, because it was really different than anything else I had ever done up to that point. The bride and groom had specific visions, and I had the challenging and wonderful task of bringin' it to life! The end result was so fun, and I love how vintage/modern/simplistic is turned out to be.

Dorota & Adam wanted a detailed outline of the events of the day, and wanted to convey just how fun and not-so-traditional the day was going to be. Dorota loves books and Adam loves music, so they asked for something that portrayed those elements. The RSVP card was designed as a library card and the "info" card was designed to reflect an old school billboard chart. We stuck to the chic black & white color palette, by pairing the white cardstock with jet black envelopes.

I absolutely adored the old school vibe Dorota & Adam stuck to.  These puppies are definitely unique, and remain one of my favorite designs!

Fun with Hand Lettering

I recently designed some wedding invitation samples for Genevieve & Alex for their summer bash next year. I love their fun color scheme, and overall "party" feel to their celebration. I decided to do something a little different on these samples that I've never done before...hand lettering! It was so much fun to draw out some of the fonts, and give these puppies a little extra touch of whimsy. Hopefully I get to do some more hand drawn fonts soon!

Indie Wed MKE

Just wanted to quickly share that the most fabulous wedding show in the world is going TONIGHT at the Harley Davidson Museum in Milwaukee! Indie Wed has moved north and is going to be putting on the first ever Indie Wed Milwaukee! So so excited to be apart of it, I can't stress enough how amazing this show is. If you are getting married and are in the greater Milwaukee area, definitely come and check it out. It's from 4-9 tonight, and you can buy tickets at the door for $15. Look for US there too of course, we'll be right by the door at booth #3! See you there!

What I'm working on

I've been working on lots and lots of wedding invitation lately, but I have especially been having fun designing these custom samples for bride-to-be Lauren. The colors are oh so springy and the vibe is so fun and lighthearted. Can't wait to keep working on these bad boys.

We heart Indie Wed

We trekked down to Chicago on Saturday for our third Indie Wed show. It was amazing as usual. There's really nothing bad to ever say about this event, seriously, I can't even think of a single thing. We met a whole bunch of cute couples, and managed to keep the awkward-ness at a record minimum. I'd like to think we are some kind of Indie Wed pros! Indie Wed 2012

So, I assure you, I will post a recap of AltSummit soon (it will be witty, I promise), but in the meantime I have been getting ready for the annual Indie Wed down in Chicago tomorrow! It will be my third time participating, and every year it gets better and better, so I'm excited to be apart of this wonderfully organized & of course, unique, event again.

2011 revisited: Tricia & John

There's something really sweet about a simple & minimal invitation design. I designed these wedding invitations for bride-to-be, Tricia, who wanted something a little modern, but still traditional, and most importantly, simple.

Warm & Modern Invites

I had the pleasure of working with Christian and Kim on their wedding invitations. They got hitched in Chicago in the beginning of October. They wanted to keep it simple, clean, and modern with warm browns and oranges, and that sounded just about perfect to me! I really loved how the final invite turned out, complete with a chocolate brown tri-fold and textured ivory paper. Congrats you two!

Wedding Invitations: Dave & Deb

I had the pleasure of working with Dave & Deb on their wedding invitations earlier this year, and I am really into how their final invitation design turned out. Dave & Deb had a vision for what they wanted their invitation to look like, and it was exciting to design a pattern that closely matched a turn table design that was specifically important to them - without me even knowing it!

Not only was I really diggin' their color scheme of orange and grey, but I loved their overall feel of their Pier Wisconsin wedding celebration, right on the lakefront - simple, hip & elegant. Dave & Deb are a smart & loving couple with a great eye for design, and I couldn't have loved working with them more!

(The final invitation I designed for them was letterpressed at Bayview Printing Co., and was then put into a grey tri-fold pocket and wax sealed by the couple.)

Lovely Love in White Bear Lake

A HUGE congratulations to Pondie and Mark as they get hitched up in White Bear Lake, MN today! I had the pleasure of working with them on pretty much all of their wedding stationery, including these fun mark-the-date bookmarks!

It's always really refreshing to work with a couple who has a unique vision for what they want their invitations to look like, and it's even more awesome when I'm able to successfully capture that and bring it to life. Anyone who knows me, knows that I LOVE maps of all kinds (especially vintage), so I was thrilled when Pondie told me she wanted to incorporate a vintage map of White Bear Lake. The invitations were complete with a vintage WBL map printed on the reverse side of the card, as well as a special WBL map envelope liner.

Pondie and Mark (and MOB, Nancy too!), it was truly wonderful working with you, and I hope I was able to capture your sweet love of Minnesota, nature and each other, on paper.

Love birds

I designed these really fun invitations for Gina & Tom (also one of the coolest couples!) for their upcoming May wedding here in Wisconsin. Their wedding sounds like so much fun too, complete with a donut tower instead of cake!

City Sleek

I recently designed a whole slew of invitations for Chicago couple, Christen & Mike. They are having a classic wedding downtown Chicago at the Blackstone Hotel! So fancy! I really loved working with the Chicago skyline, and think they turned out pretty nice!

Mark The Dates

I recently did a whole bunch of 'Mark' the date book mark designs for Pondie and Mark. I think they all turned out pretty rad!

This upcoming weekend is the 2nd annual Indie Wed wedding show at the Ravenswood Event Center in Chicago. This show is so super cool, I can barely stand it. We'll be there again this year and we're so excited! We're at booth #72 on the 2nd floor, and here are specifics:
Saturday Jan. 29th, 10AM-4PM, 4043 N. Ravenswood Ave. Chicago IL, tickets are $12.00 to get in.

Glimpse of spring

I recently designed a very spring-y wedding invitation set for a Chicago couple for their April wedding. The design was based off of a previous design I did a few years back. I think the flowers & their color palette of blush & taupe are just so darn pretty! Makes me wish for spring to come soon.
